Indonesia Launches Crackdown on Unruly Foreign Tourists in Bali Amid Rising Immigration Violations
DENPASAR, Indonesia — In response to a growing number of immigration violations and criminal incidents involving foreign tourists, Indonesia’s Immigration and Correctional Services Ministry has established a dedicated task force aimed at monitoring and managing unruly visitors on the island of Bali. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining safety and order in one of Indonesia’s most popular tourist destinations.
Task Force Composition and Duties
The newly formed task force consists of 100 immigration officers tasked with conducting frequent and random patrols across ten of Bali’s busiest tourist hotspots. These areas include Canggu in North Kuta, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Matahari Terbit and Benoa Harbours, Pecatu, Mertasari Beach, Kuta, Gianyar, Nusa Dua, and Jimbaran. Their presence is intended to deter unlawful behaviour and ensure rapid intervention in cases of immigration breaches or disturbances caused by tourists.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Denpasar, Immigration Minister Agus Andrianto highlighted the urgency of the initiative. He stated, “This initiative is a direct response to President Prabowo Subianto’s mandate to uphold stability and security in Bali, one of Indonesia’s foremost tourist destinations.” The establishment of the task force aligns with government efforts to protect local communities and sustain the island’s reputation as a safe and enjoyable destination for visitors from around the world.
