Two Turkish Nationals Deported from Indonesia for Violating Visa Regulations
Bali, Indonesia — In a recent operation aimed at enforcing immigration regulations, two Turkish nationals have been deported from Indonesia after being found to be in violation of their visa conditions. The individuals, identified only by their initials MT (39) and FY (31), were apprehended during a surveillance operation known as “Wira Waspada” conducted by the Singaraja Immigration Office team in the Jembrana area.
According to Hendra Setiawan, the Head of Singaraja Immigration Office, the surveillance operation took place from February 17 to 21, 2025. Throughout the operation, officials successfully identified several foreign nationals suspected of misusing their residence permits. MT and FY were detained on February 20, 2025, for allegedly operating a restaurant business, which is not allowed under their visitor visas.
Background of the Detained Nationals
MT and FY entered Indonesia through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, utilizing visitor visas. FY arrived first in November 2024, followed by MT in January 2025. In the operation of the restaurant, MT was involved as a chef while FY managed food orders, activities that violate the terms of their visa.
Legal Actions Taken
Following thorough inspections, the immigration officials concluded that the two Turkish nationals had committed immigration violations under Article 75(1) in conjunction with Article 122(a) of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. As a result, both individuals faced administrative immigration actions which included deportation and barring from re-entering Indonesia.
The deportation of MT and FY was executed with the oversight of the Singaraja Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement team on March 5, 2025. They were flown out of Indonesia on AirAsia flight D7793, destined for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Subsequent flights were arranged for their return to Istanbul, Turkey, including connections from Kuala Lumpur to Sharjah and then from Sharjah to Istanbul, ensuring their return to their home country.
Ongoing Vigilance Against Immigration Violations
Hendra Setiawan emphasized the importance of regular monitoring and collaboration with relevant authorities to prevent foreign nationals from engaging in activities outside the scope of their permits. "We continuously conduct patrols and work in coordination with various parties. Any violations will be addressed firmly according to the applicable regulations,” he stated.
This incident serves as a reminder of the Indonesian government’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws rigorously, aiming to maintain order and compliance within its borders.
