ITB STIKOM Bali Hosts Social Media Content Creation Training

DENPASAR – In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing community engagement, ITB STIKOM Bali conducted a training session on Social Media Content Creation on January 18, 2025. The event took place at the Programming Lab on the Renon campus and was part of the institution’s Community Service Program. Twenty-one participants from the Bali Provincial Disaster Relief Agency (BPBD) joined the training, which was also attended by I Wayan Suryawan, the Head of the BPBD Control Unit.

Purpose and Goals of the Training

Kadek Surya Adi Saputra, a lecturer at the institution and the main facilitator of the training, highlighted the aim of the session as a means to enhance the skills of participants in creating effective and engaging social media content. “We hope this training will be beneficial and can be applied by the BPBD of Bali Province, making the content produced by their team more appealing to the public. This way, disaster-related messages can reach a wider audience,” said Kadek Surya.

Tools and Techniques Covered

The training session was designed to empower participants with the knowledge to use popular digital design tools. Ni Wayan Ari Ulandari, the head of the Community Service Program, indicated that the training utilized the application Canva for graphic content creation and CapCut for video content production. “We hope this training provides the participants with additional insights into utilizing design and video editing applications. The results are expected to support BPBD’s efforts to enhance public awareness regarding disaster information,” Ni Wayan expressed.

During the course of the training, participants learned how to design visual content using Canva and create short videos with CapCut. The enthusiastic participation demonstrated the training’s effectiveness in providing practical benefits to the BPBD of Bali Province.

Conclusion and Future Implications

The successful training session underscores ITB STIKOM Bali’s commitment to community service and skill development, especially in pivotal areas such as disaster management and public education. By equipping officials at BPBD with enhanced social media skills, the initiative aims to better inform and engage the community during emergencies, ultimately contributing to a more disaster-resilient society.
