ITB STIKOM Bali Pursues Dual Degree Programs to Enhance Educational Opportunities
DENPASAR (BALIVIRALNEWS) – In a significant development within the realm of higher education, ITB STIKOM Bali is making strides to position itself as a prominent institution for Dual Degree programs. Dr. Dadang Hermawan, the Rector of ITB STIKOM Bali, announced that the university currently offers four Dual Degree programs aimed at providing students with diverse and global educational experiences.
International Collaborations
One of the university’s flagship partnerships is with HELP University in Malaysia, a collaborative effort that has been thriving for several decades. As of now, approximately 175 students from ITB STIKOM Bali out of a total of 6,000 are enrolled at HELP University. Dr. Hermawan highlighted the success of this program, noting that it has produced around 100 alumni who are now making their mark across the globe, with a significant portion residing in Australia.
New Opportunities in China
Dr. Hermawan also elaborated on the Dual Degree program with China, which requires students to spend one year studying abroad. This initiative is expected to provide students with invaluable international exposure and cultural immersion, enhancing their academic and professional profiles.
Partnerships with Local Institutions
In addition to international collaborations, ITB STIKOM Bali has also established a Dual Degree program with the University of Technology Bandung (UTB), part of the STIKOM Group. This partnership allows for greater integration of curricula and academic resources between the institutions.
However, Dr. Hermawan pointed out a temporary halt in the Dual Degree partnership with Bina Nusantara University (Binus) over misunderstandings that have prevented its continuation for the past two years.
Advancing Postgraduate Education
The university is also committed to advancing postgraduate education within Bali, as it offers a Master’s program in Information Systems, which is currently the only program of its kind in the region. Graduates of this program will receive a Master’s degree in Computer Science, symbolizing ITB STIKOM Bali’s dedication to meeting the educational needs of its students.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Moreover, the institution has initiated a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme, allowing students from various disciplines within the university to receive academic credits for their previous formal and informal experiences, as well as any relevant work portfolios. Dr. Hermawan noted that this innovative approach could potentially grant students recognition of up to 99 SKS (credit units) towards their degree, facilitating a smoother transition and progression towards obtaining their S.Kom (Bachelor of Computer Science) degree.
Future Aspirations
Dr. Hermawan expressed optimism for the future, stating that the Yayasan Widya Dharma Shanti is committed to expanding and enhancing the academic offerings at ITB STIKOM Bali. The institution aims to continuously evolve and adapt to the changing educational landscape, providing its students with the tools necessary for success in a competitive global environment.
As ITB STIKOM Bali positions itself as a leader in dual degree education, it promises exciting opportunities for students looking to broaden their horizons and gain international exposure in their fields of study.
