"This is not just a competition; it is a grand stage to showcase Indonesia, particularly Bali, as a prime destination for sport tourism," he stated. Herry emphasized that the stunning backdrop of Peninsula Island will enhance the spectacle, merging sports, culture, and tourism in a remarkable celebration.
The Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) is encouraging local communities, especially those in Bali, to attend the event to witness world-class athletes competing and to show support for Indonesia’s national team.
Venue Readiness and Participation
Event Director Robertus Robet reported that preparations for the competition, including the construction of climbing walls, are nearing completion. He indicated that the venue is about 80-90% ready and is expected to be finished precisely one week before the official event. "The process is aligned with international standards to ensure the comfort and safety of both athletes and spectators," Robet assured.
Collaboration has been key in the organization of the World Cup, with partnerships involving the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), local police for event permits, and the Provincial Government of Bali to facilitate necessary infrastructure and human resources.
Anticipation for the event is growing, as evidenced by the registration of 193 athletes from 29 countries, competing in various categories including Lead Men, Lead Women, Speed Men, and Speed Women. This number is expected to increase further as interest in climbing sports surges worldwide.
Implications for Sport Tourism in Bali
Robet noted that the event not only promises high-level competition but also aims to boost national sports achievements and reinforce Indonesia’s status as a top destination for sport tourism. The picturesque venue in Bali is expected to further elevate this image.
As the IFSC World Cup approaches, both organizers and local stakeholders are poised to maximize its impact on Bali’s tourism sector, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of sports in the region.
