Blackout in Bali: Tourist Paradise Plunged into Darkness

Bali, Indonesia — On Friday, May 2, 2025, a widespread power outage left significant areas of Bali, the renowned tourist island, in darkness. The outage caused considerable disruption, including traffic congestion and long queues at Ngurah Rai International Airport, although flight operations continued without cancellation.

According to reports from CNN, the blackout affected numerous regions across the island, prompting essential efforts by local utility company Perusahaan Listrik Negara to restore electricity. The spokesperson for the utility, I Wayan Eka Susana, stated that the company is actively investigating the cause of the outage while gradually working towards restoring power supply to affected areas.
