Bali’s Most Popular Attractions Set to Welcome Tourists for Easter

Published: April 17, 2025

As Easter approaches, Bali, the renowned tourist destination, is preparing for an influx of visitors, both international and domestic. The harmony of cultures in Indonesia, where the majority is Muslim but approximately 10% of the population is Christian, allows for the celebration of Easter as a national public holiday. This year, many are expected to travel to the island to enjoy the festivities and natural beauty.

Easter Celebrations in Bali

The island’s celebrated Holy Spirit Parish Church at Denpasar Cathedral is gearing up for one of its most significant events of the year—Easter Mass. Guido Da Cruz e Silva, a representative from the Cathedral, confirmed extensive preparations are underway. He noted that community and government agencies are collaborating to ensure smooth proceedings during the services.

“Our preparation for Easter 2025 is almost complete, reaching around 90 to 100 percent readiness,” Silva stated. He detailed that an increase in attendance expects four to five mass services daily to accommodate the growing congregation. With additional facilities like tents set up for congregants who may not have room inside the church, the church is striving to welcome everyone.

Silva emphasized the coordination of priests for the services, explaining the importance of teamwork in orchestrating this significant occasion for their community.

Peak Season Anticipation

With other significant holidays like Nyepi and Eid recently concluded, Bali notices a resurgence in domestic travel interest. The island’s enhanced connections and accessibility mean that families across Indonesia can easily plan short getaways. This Easter weekend is anticipated to bring a considerable number of tourists, particularly to Bali’s famous beaches.

At renowned Melasti Beach, preparations are made for what is expected to be a bustling Easter weekend. Wayan Karnawa, beach manager, reported that the beach has seen notable visitor numbers, including over 52,000 attendees during the Eid holiday period, with the most active day seeing nearly 10,000 visitors.

Karnawa remarked, “We predict that Easter weekend at Melasti Beach will be as busy as during Eid al-Fitr,” highlighting the rising popularity of the beach. However, he reassured that its vast space allows visitors to relax without feeling crowded.

Tips for Tourists

While the influx of tourists is expected to increase this weekend, the volume is significantly lower compared to previous holiday seasons. Currently, it is also the low season in Bali, indicating lower overall visitor numbers.

Tourists seeking a quieter experience might consider postponing visits to popular attractions like Tanah Lot Temple, Uluwatu Temple, and the Tegalalang Rice Terraces until later. Instead, exploring off-the-beaten-path areas such as Munduk, Lovina, Amed, and Medewi may provide a more tranquil atmosphere.

The southern parts of Bali are predicted to be busier, so planning a road trip east, west, or north could enhance one’s experience as the island gears up to welcome the anticipated Easter holiday crowds.

Conclusion

As Bali prepares for Easter, the synergy of cultural observance, natural beauty, and enhanced tourism infrastructure will once again shine a spotlight on the island. Travelers are encouraged to be mindful of their plans to navigate potential crowds while enjoying all that Bali has to offer during this festive time. The island’s charm paired with its community’s enthusiasm for the season promises a memorable experience for all visitors.
