Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Gears Up for High Season Tourist Influx
Bali, Indonesia – As Bali prepares for its peak tourism season, expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the globe, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is ramping up its operations to accommodate the increase in travelers. With the high season approaching, airport officials are optimistic about the growth of the island’s tourism sector.
Record Passenger Movements
Recent travel statistics highlight a significant surge in passenger movement at Bali’s airport. In April 2025 alone, over 2 million passengers passed through the airport, marking a total of 12,119 flights during the month. This uptick aligns with the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, indicating strong demand for travel to the island.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Wahyudi, shared insights with reporters emphasizing the connection between the recent spike in arrivals and holiday periods. "The first week of April saw many people enjoying the long holiday for Eid al-Fitr," said Wahyudi. In the latter half of the month, a long weekend coinciding with Good Friday and Easter further boosted passenger figures.
During the Eid holiday, which lasted from April 1 to 7, the airport serviced 495,879 passengers. Following that, a further 280,692 passengers traveled through the airport during the Good Friday and Easter holiday weekend from April 17 to 20. In comparison, daily average passenger numbers surged from 60,000 to 70,000 during these festive periods—a significant year-on-year increase of 16%.

The increase in passenger numbers and the promising trends observed in April signal positive growth for Bali’s tourism sector as the island heads into its high season, which typically extends from June until early September. "We are dedicated to providing excellent service," he affirmed, ensuring that tourists have memorable experiences while transiting through Ngurah Rai Airport.
