Indonesia Appoints Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Bali
DENPASAR, BALI – The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially approved the appointment of I Putu Winastra as the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan to Indonesia. This announcement was made on Thursday, March 6, 2025, and is aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations, particularly in the areas of economic, social, and cultural cooperation.
Promoting Bilateral Relations
I Putu Winastra will be based in Denpasar, Bali, where he is expected to facilitate interests and enhance collaboration between Indonesia and Kazakhstan. His tenure comes with the expectation to drive forward cooperation in trade and tourism, as well as to enhance cultural exchanges between the two countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia has issued an acknowledgment letter confirming his appointment.
In the official letter, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that the decision to appoint Winastra was based on his significant track record and contributions to international cooperation. “We have satisfactory evidence supporting the appointment of Mr. I Putu Winastra as the Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan for the Republic of Indonesia, based in Denpasar, Bali,” the letter stated.
Rights and Privileges
Minister Sugiono further articulated that I Putu Winastra would enjoy privileges in accordance with international law and regulations applicable in Indonesia. “We hereby acknowledge his position in this role and declare that he is able to perform his duties and exercise all powers and privileges as permitted for Consular Representatives under International Law or the Laws of the Republic of Indonesia,” Sugiono wrote in the letter.

This appointment is considered a strategic move to bolster diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Kazakhstan. In the near future, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to present the official acknowledgment letter in a special event, which will serve as an important symbol in the journey of cooperation between the two countries.
