International Cultural Exchange Programme Celebrates Unity and Tradition in Bali

Bali, Indonesia – January 31, 2023: The 47th International Cultural Exchange Programme was successfully held at the Astoon Auditorium in Bali, Indonesia. This significant event was co-organized by the International Cultural Sourabha Parishat India and the Global Peace Foundation, drawing participants and dignitaries from various backgrounds to celebrate cultural diversity and unity.

Floral Offering Ceremony Opens the Event

The programme commenced with a poignant floral offering ceremony, inaugurated by Dr. E Anjaneya, managing director of Kuber Palace in Raichur. In his opening remarks, Dr. Anjaneya expressed appreciation for Bali’s natural beauty, describing its lush green landscape as a precious gift from nature. He commended the warmth and hospitality of the Balinese people, expressing his belief that cultural exchange initiatives thrive in such welcoming environments.

Growing Support for Cultural Exchange

K. P. Manjunath Sagar, the founder-president of the International Cultural Sourabha Parishat India, spoke about the increasing support from Kannada associations globally for cultural exchange programs. Since 2004, he noted a rise in recognition and collaboration from international organizations, which he perceives as a means to foster cultural harmony and validate the efforts put forth in these initiatives.

Honoring Influential Figures

The event featured guest of honor Dr. D. S. Vishwanath, a retired deputy commissioner, who enlightened attendees on the importance of remembering and respecting the significant figures in one’s life, namely parents, teachers, and well-wishers. His poignant messages served as a reminder of the foundational pillars that shape an individual’s journey.

Dr. K. B. Nagoor, president of the Dr. Nagoor Education Trust in Vijayapura, presided over the event. A distinguished group of invitees included Newman Sri, a Bali-based business advisor; Dr. Pallavi Mani (Subramani), honorary president of the International Cultural Sourabha Committee; Radhakrishna Shetty, president of the Surat Kannada Sangha; artist Dr. Prashanth from Mysuru; Mahesh Bhat Huluguru from Sri Shankar Shilpa Kala Kendra in Sringeri; and writer Dr. Archana Athani from Belagavi, who all shared their valuable insights throughout the programme.

Launch of Travelogue and Distribution of Awards

A highlight of the evening was the official launch of Dr. Archana Athani’s travelogue, Mohaka Maldives, which recounts her adventures and experiences in the Maldives.

Additionally, the prestigious Asia-Pacific Iconic Awards were presented to notable achievers from various fields. Award recipients included Prabha Shastri from Shivamogga, Radhakrishna Shetty from Surat, Chinta Ravinder from Hyderabad, Kosuru Ratnam, Dr. Prashanth from Mysuru, and Vidushi Madhavi D. K. from Davangere, all recognized for their exceptional contributions to society.

Cultural Performances Showcase Balinese Heritage

The cultural programme included captivating performances of traditional Balinese Barong dance by local artists, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Bali. Vidushi Madhavi D. K., director of Naman Academy in Davanagere, also performed a dance adaptation of Kuvempu’s poignant poetry piece Elladaru Iru (Be Anywhere, But Serve Literature).

Other performances included a recital by Purnima Satish and Arati Suresh, a poetry recitation by Prof. Bindige Navile Bhagavan, and a speech on global harmony by Dr. Prashanth from Mysuru, encapsulating the evening’s theme of unity and peace.

The 47th International Cultural Exchange Programme not only celebrated cultural diversity but also reinforced the importance of cross-cultural collaborations, connecting people through the shared values of hospitality, respect, and artistic expression.
